Public Relations


The mission of the Public Relations Department is to promote and enhance the image and reputation of the college and continually strive to create an internal and external environment of effective and friendly student support and recruitment services.


The department, to accomplish its mission, will capitalize on all key areas of the college, leveraging the programs, people and resources of BHCK. In its supportive role, the department will:

  • Work in collaboration with the Marketing Department
  • Plan, implement and administer a comprehensive student communication program and set of support services
  • Plan, facilitate and support coordination and promotion of student recruitment activities


  • Open Day: This annual event in consultation with marketing staff is targeted to attract prospective students each year. It offers students the opportunity to visit the BHCK campus, meet staff and current students, inspect facilities, see exhibitions and folios and discuss admissions and requirements.
  • Developing Community and Industrial Partnerships: Works with local government, private industry and community groups to foster links with local schools and community groups, the department holds quarterly meetings for sector groups to discuss current issues relating to further education and career options. Academics can attend meetings to present on their study program and program interest area.
  • Community and School Career Expos: Various community groups and secondary schools hold career expos throughout the year. Student Recruitment staff attend a number of these events to promote the benefits of studying at BHCK and discuss options available within BHCK and Higher Education sector.
  • Campus Tours: Host on-campus tours for prospective students throughout the year. These tours provide opportunity for students to get a feel for how BHCK is structured and what campus life is all about. Students can learn about the benefits of BHCK, the range of study programs available and undergraduate qualification pathways
  • Distinguished Speaker Series: BHCK Distinguished Speaker will host both local and international authorities and personalities.
  • Off-Campus BHCK Presentations: Often schools have specific requests for academic or portfolio staff to speak to their students in relation to a particular interest area. We endeavour to meet their requests where possible. The department is available to do presentations and attend information evenings at the school. Presentations consist of an introduction to BHCK programs of study and information and undergraduate pathways. The presentation is followed by a question time and the distribution of BHCK publications. Presentations can run for up to an hour depending on the time allowed and questions.

Website & Publications

  • Website: Recognizing the importance of the website as a marketing tool for the college, content will be kept updated and accurate by the Public Relations and monitored for continuous enhancement. The Office will coordinate with all offices of the college to assure pages are posted and refelkct current data and information.
  • The design, production and maintenance of the college website will be the responsibility of the Marketing Department.
  • BHCK Course Catalogue: The BHCK Course Catalogue is produced by Public Relations Department and is maintained on the college's website in a downloadable. Additional media versions such as DVD and CD are produced for use at special events, exhibitions and student recruitment campaigns. This publication is collateral containing information regarding all BHCK programs including comprehensive information regarding BHCK interest areas, services, educational pathways and policies.
  • BHCK College Bulletin: The BHCK Bulletin is a quarterly electronic publication distributed to local schools and selected individuals. The purpose of the publication is to provide essential information on programs, activities and events for advising prospective students. Facilities, departments and other groups within BHCK are invited to make submissions or provide inserts for inclusion in the Bulletin.
