English Foundation Instructor - Full Time / Part Time Position Summary

Provide high-quality teaching service to students enrolled in language courses relevant to the Department; various levels of English (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) skills to prepare students for mainstream courses.

Position Objectives Main Responsibilities

Teaching, Learning and Development

Select, prepare, deliver, and maintain appropriate teaching and learning materials and assessment tools that ensure effective learning is taking place in the classroom.

Demonstrate high-quality classroom teaching skills and successfully employ flexible, adaptive approaches and constructive strategies to allow students to reach their full potential.

Work within quality systems (including the Australian Quality Training Framework)

Prepare lessons plans, develop work units and maintain records to a high standard as required.

Participate in the evaluation and validation of courses and services relevant to the Department

Student Management

Participate in the enrolment process within the Centre

Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessment in accordance with the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF), Kuwait Private Universities Council, and College policies and procedures

Provide appropriate individual or out-of-class feedback to students

Provide academic results to students and the College per Department policies and procedures

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Undertake administrative duties directly related to the teaching function

Key Selection Criteria

Demonstrated successful record in EFL / ESL teaching including the ability to develop course materials, curriculum, teaching methodologies, assessment strategies and evaluation of EFL / ESL programs

Native English speaker preferred

Demonstrated understanding of quality systems, such as Quality Assurance and the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) as they relate to administration and delivery of teaching programs

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work flexibly and harmoniously as a member of team in an environment subject to change

Demonstrated qualities of tact and diplomacy together with a sensitive regard for differing cultures

Demonstrated experience in using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) skills in the delivery and administration of teaching programs

Essential Formal qualifications experience and attributes

Approved qualification in TESOL together with an approved course of teacher training are essential

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable) or equivalent

Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including ‘Outlook’ and ‘Word’.
